Circe

Based on Madeline Miller’s story retelling, my Major Project centred around the mythological character of Circe: a minor goddess and witch born from Helios (the sun God) and Perse (the Oceanid nymph).

Once portrayed as a secondary figure in The Odyssey, Circe is powerfully reimagined by Miller as a complex, autonomous woman. Examining Circe’s journey of self-discovery, transformation and defiance against societal constraints — my aim was to translate her mythological essence through the themes of feminism, nature, culture and heritage.
